Coal Mining – In June 1997, Arch Mineral Corporation (in which the Hunt Group owned an approximately 50% interest) merged with Ashland Coal, Inc. to form Arch Coal, Inc. a publicly traded company listed on the NYSE. Arch Coal, Inc. (NYSE: ACI) is the second largest coal company in the U.S. producing 110 million tons annually or 10% of total U.S. coal production, which provides the fuel for approximately 6% of the electricity used by Americans each year, and Hunt Group remains owner/ stockholders. In addition, the Hunt Group is involved in the development of another greenfield coal project via ownership in a privately held company known as Pacrim Coal. |
